Twenty Five Twenty One Season 1 Episode 3 recap
The episode starts with present day Min-chae being woken up by her mother, insisting that she should attend her manual therapy. It is already late morning and still on her bed. Min-chae did eventually show at her therapy and her mother nags about how fortunate she is to have these kind of therapy when they did not back in her days. To convince her back to ballet, Hee-do asks a tempered Min-chae what does she wants, she then got her request to eat at her chosen restaurant and food.
While eating, Min-chae asks her mother why did she not quit fencing even if she is not good at it. Hee-do is upset that her mother told Min-chae about this, but tells her reason why she did not quite fencing is because it constantly made her heart flutter.
A flashback in 1998, Yi-jin drops off the newspaper with notes about the new bathroom code at Hee-do’s house. Yi-jin comes home with his landlady’s daughter, Seung-wan, being polite and greets him enthusiastically. She says that she is honored to meet him now knowing that he is a Tae Yang High alumnus and the two sparks a good note for their kinship.
At school, Coach Yang and the team gathered to talk about the upcoming qualifications for the national fencing team. Everyone is disappointed to know that no one meets the criteria and Coach Yang dismisses them so they can attend their class to meet the minimum attendance requirements.
At the classroom, Hee-do sighs as she now found out that Yu-rim is her classmate, and is even treated highly by the rest of the class since she is the gold medalist. However, the teacher did not exempt Yu-rim for the penalty to kneels outside the room with hands stretched up, when she failed to bring her book.
Seeing this as an opportunity, Ji-woong tosses his book to Hee-do, who also failed to bring her book. He voluntarily walks out of the room, kneels beside Yu-rim with hands held high above the head and happily shares his admiration to her for being a gold medalist. When he found out about Yu-rim’s injured ankle, he asks for the teacher’s permission for them to stand, instead of kneel, to reduce the pressure on Yu-rim’s ankle, which the teacher approved so.
After school, Hee-do and Ye-ji talk about their fencing team’s power structure and interests. It was cut short when a member who came in the gym while grasping for air, announces that Full House Volume 12 is going to be out that day. Not wasting anytime, Yu-rim and Hee-do rushes out to their rental store to get a copy of the book.
Yu-rim finds out that her rental store no longer have any copy, gets Yi-jin’s contact number from her mother and phones him to reserve her a copy of the book. Meanwhile, Hee-do manages to get at Yi-jin’s rental store only for Yi-jin to tell her there’s no more available copy and offers her another popular story called Dragon Raja. When he left the counter, Hee-do’s eyes lingered through the books behind the counter and sees one Full House Volume 12 copy hidden amongst the books. Yi-jin tries to hide the book again but was caught red-handed by Hee-do.
Yu-rim arrives at the rental store, both to their surprise that the other knows about Yi-jin. Hee-do confronts Yi-jin if he tried to hold on the book for Yu-rim, which Yu-rim tells her that she called in and reserved it first. Hee-do corrects her that the rental store is a first come, first serve basis and she is a VIP and regular customer at the place.
Yi-jin then is put on the spotlight as to whom he would give the book to. He looks at Yu-rim and apologizes, and gives the book to Hee-do who came in first. Hee-do grabs the book and squeals as soon as she laid her eyes on the first page, leaving the rental store in victory over a disappointed Yu-rim for the copy of the book.
While waiting for the bus, Yu-rim tells Yi-jin not to be friends with Hee-do as she rubs her off the wrong way, and he is her first love. Yi-jin says that he is not her first love, but rather was his sports car, reinforces also the fact that she has not found her first love yet.
The next day, an unhappy Yu-rim finds more reason to unlike Hee-do when Coach Yang announces that she got the opportunity to compete and join the national fencing team.
A happy Hee-do drops by at Yi-jin’s place hoping to tell him about the good news, only to find out another creditor is looking for him. She quickly dashed to Yi-jin’s rental store and helps him hide. When the creditor came in, she says that she is the only staff working there. A confused creditor leaves the store and Hee-do calls out Yi-jin from hiding. Hee-do finally able to tell him about the good news on their way back home.
Yi-jin sees a paper tucked in the mailbox and reads it. He found out that the man who cam looking for him was his dad, not a creditor. So he rushes off to the bus terminal and after a bus when he saw his dad. The bus stops and the father-son is able to talk for a short period of time, mainly discussing how much they have missed each other and they are doing fine. Yi-jin promises his dad that he will reunite their family again soon. Then his father leaves again for the bus.
Back at Hee-do, she sees the paper dropped on the floor and reads it. Feeling guilty of what she had done, she runs to the streets without any direction, and just wearing slippers. Just when she was about to fall flat on her face for slipping over her slippers, Yi-jin catches her right on time. Yi-jin saw her running in the streets while he was riding the bus way back home, drops off the bus and decided to chase her then. Yi-jin and Hee-do goes home together interlaced as Hee-do’s slipper was broken.
A dedicated Hee-do asks Coach Yang to be her coach for the national fencing competition which she accepts as long as Hee-do is willing to do anything she says without questioning her. Morning runs with weighs on both legs, 1000 fentes everyday and mountain running up and down with a gallon of water in both arms and dance choreography to master.
Hee-do also does after-hour training to work on her lunges. Yu-rim also joins her at the fencing gym. A senior shows up at the gym and calls them out to clean the gym together. Hee-do stands up for herself but Yu-rim shows obedience to the senior.
The two had a talk about their different perspective, with Hee-do being greatly disappointed at Yu-rim for someone willing to be pushed around and punished for wanting to become better at fencing. But Yu-rim remains apathetic and tells Hee-do not to blow up what Yu-rim has worked hard for bending down to seniors and avoiding further punishments.
Hee-do tells Yu-rim to clean the flow by herself and goes home. She drops by at Yi-jin’s place hoping to tell her that “Yu-rim was on the wrong” without any question. But Yi-jin was not able to, which upsets Hee-do all the more. When Yi-jin chases after her and says the words casually, she knew that she had just huge expectations from him, and even Yu-rim and walks away.
At home, Hee-do talks to her pen pal online who gave her the words that “she is on the wrong” and will always be on her side. What Hee-do does not know, her pen pal online is actually Yu-rim herself and the vice versa also applies, Yu-rim does not know that she is talking to Hee-do!
